Transportation Funding

Transportation Funding Overview (page 1 of 3):

Transportation Funding offers families who have no credit or a damaged credit history an opportunity to receive up to a $3,000 loan to purchase a vehicle, or up to $1,000 for vehicle repairs from one of our partnering financial institutions. Families will be given the opportunity to do the following:

Obtain free credit reports and credit scores
Build and improve credit histories
Maintain employment
Improve spending and budgeting skills
Have adequate transportation for medical, dental, or other appointments
Drive children to quality child care
Have the ability to participate in community and after-school activities

To get started, go to the pre-qualification self-test or call us at 1-888-615-1384. We will provide a pre-qualification screening on the phone. If you qualify, we will mail an application packet to you or download one from this site.

Communities Investing in Families reserves the right to eliminate any candidate who does not meet program qualifications.

With the loan you can:

Purchase a used vehicle (up to $3,000)
Repair your existing vehicle (up to $1,000)

Applicants must:

Be a current participant in the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) or the Diversionary Work Program (DWP).
Reside within Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs or Pine Counties
Have a current and valid Minnesota Drivers License
Obtain full insurance coverage on a vehicle
Be in need of transportation for work
Be an involved parent of a child under 18
Currently employed at least 20 hrs/wk for the last 6 months
Be able to make timely monthly loan payments and maintain regular vehicle maintenance
Be willing to actively participate in improving your personal financial situation
Meet program income guidelines
